The Original Tech Jewelry

In 2016, Apple removed the headphone jack and introduced AirPods. Most of the conversation was about how not to lose them. We thought the more interesting question was how to wear them.

Tapper started in Stockholm that year with a single product, a black lamb leather strap that turned AirPods into a necklace. Nothing like it existed. It was the first AirPods Necklace, and the start of a category that did not have a name yet - tech jewelry.



The name

Tapper is the Swedish word for brave. When Phil Schiller explained why Apple dropped the headphone jack, his answer came down to one word: courage. We liked the idea that the same should apply to what you wear.


Launched in Paris

On March 1, 2017, Tapper launched in-store and online at colette in Paris, in the concept store's final year before it closed its doors. colette spent twenty years deciding what belonged in fashion. That it made room for an AirPods necklace still means something to us.



Since then

That first lamb leather strap has grown into a full range. The AirPods Necklace now comes in mesh chain, foxtail chain, leather and nylon, and in solid 18k gold for the collector. Around it sit phone crossbody straps and wristlets, AirTag cases, AirPods cases, MacBook totes, iPhone bags, small leather goods and glasses chains. All of it is designed in Stockholm.


Today more than 100,000 people in over 115 countries wear Tapper. Along the way the brand has been stocked at Selfridges, Le Bon Marché, SKP Beijing, Nordstrom, Bloomingdale's and Saks Fifth Avenue, collaborated with Spotify, Instagram and LVMH's 24S, and been featured in Vogue, GQ, ELLE, Hypebeast and Fast Company.


What we believe

Technology has moved into our pockets and ears. It deserves the same care as everything else we carry: good materials, clean lines, and pieces you would wear even with nothing attached to them.
